Update on PLB Days

As you know, the Appellate Court determined that Civil Service was wrong in saying that PLB days had to be treated as vacation days, that is, that they could only be carrie over for one year.  We won this decision.

 
The Chair of the Civil Service Commission put out a notice to Human Resources Directors saying that Civil Service is now deciding what to do and that they may take other action to try to make workers use or lose their PLB days.
 
We expect that Management will continue to try to intimidate workers into using their PLB days.  Do not use your PLB days unless you want to. 
 
The MOA we negotiated says very clearly that PLB days can be carried over indefinitely and cashed out at separation if they are not used.  We believe that we will be able to enforce the MOA.  Management is trying to get workers to use the days now because they fear losing them. 
 
We have won this each step of the way and we will take every action necessary to enforce the MOA.
You do not need to use your PLB days now, unless you want to use them.
