Hypocrisy Watch: NJ Republicans Like Health Care Reform Money, but Refuse to Support the Bill Creating It

Fringe groups attempting to dismantle President Obama's recently-passed health care reform law are demanding that Chris Christie sign on to a legal challenge attempting to overturn the democratically enacted law in the courts

But Republicans in the state legislature haven't been too distracted.  On June 21, every single Republican in the State Senate voted against a resolution asking that Christie not add New Jersey onto the lawsuit.  And prior to that, 17 Republicans in the state legislature went so far as to sign a letter declaring health care reform unconstitutional.

Several Republican Senators took a step farther.  Senators Beck, Ciesla, Bucco and Senate Minority Leader Kean issued press releases praising Christie for restoring the PAAD program funding in May, and then turned around a month later and refused to ask Christie not to sign the funding source for the restoration to the PAAD program.

The problem?  Chris Christie used savings from the health care law to restore funding to the PAAD program in his budget.  And every single Republican in the state legislature just voted for the budget.

Republicans in New Jersey all just supported a budget that includes money from the health care law.  But they think Governor Christie should sign a lawsuit calling that very law unconstitutional.

So Republicans think New Jersey should take and spend money that comes from an unconstitutional source.  That's interesting.

Chris Christie, for his part, says he's been too distracted by the budget process to make a decision.  Apparently, Christie was able to propose a budget with funds the law, wrangle wayward Republcian lawmakers into voting for the budget with funds from the law, sign a budget with funds from the law, and then make the rounds on national television taking credit for the budget with funds from the law, but he is too distracted by said budget to make up his mind about the law.  Try to wrap your head around that.
